And then there were 4… (well 3.5 FTE really)

A whirlwind of recruitment action landed at Axle8 in the new year and our workpod has become somewhat more cosy. Some have described it as “buzzing”, some have called it just plain “busy”. We certainly have taken over the north western corner of the Enterprise Hub but it’s surprisingly bums on seats, fingers on keyboards and eyes on monitor with no Foosball table in sight. Our team may be diligent and softly spoken but we’re also hy·gi·en·ic and good-look·ing.

Without further delay, our new team members:

Venki Balasubramanian joins us from the University of Technology at Sydney where he is completing his PhD in mobile computing and sensor networks. Yes, a PhD (we’ll be calling Venki Dr B in no time). Pretty cool eh? Venki will be focusing on the “behind the scenes” components which will work the magic of message delivery and business intelligence algorithms. Venki also still lectures at uni in Java programming and worked in Chennai, India leading numerous IT projects.

Tristan Martin is completing his double degree (Commerce and Computer Science) at USyd this year and filed his first patent at the age of 17. There’s no doubting the fact that Tristan knows his way around code and his initial project at Axle8 will be to develop our iPhone application. In his spare time, Tristan likes to travel on the roads less traveled (like the one to North Korea) and break out his Salsa dancing shoes.

Jin and i are excited to have Tristan and Venki join us at Axle8. We’re all still getting to know each other but i think this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Welcome on board guys!
